NB Disability Art Collective as it’s first Artist in Residence

Jessica Kenny NBDAC’s First Artist in Residence

I am starting my art residency with the New Brunswick Disability Art Collective (NBDAC) this September. I am so excited to be working with this group.

I want to thank artsnb for funding this opportunity through the Artist in Residence grant I received earlier this year and for accommodating my needs to make this residency possible. This year has been difficult due to my health and I am grateful to have the chance to start my residency. It means so much to me to be able to do the work I love in a way that is accessible to me.

The goal of my work during this residency is to enable others to find their voice through art, and tell their own stories about their lived experiences as creators with disabilities. I hope this work can be a catalyst in building community and activating persons with disabilities in New Brunswick to raise their voices and tell their stories.

Throughout my residency I will be focusing on the power of narrative and finding your voice. Monthly workshops will be held virtually over Zoom, with more information to follow as details are finalized. An update on workshop dates and times, and how to register for workshops will be posted Monday September 2nd.

Weekly creative community nights will be every Friday evening at 7pm Atlantic Time starting September 6th, and will be held virtually over Zoom. Creative community night is an evening where we can connect with one another, and talk about art and creativity.

You can register for creative community night though the included Zoom Registration link below:
